Grand Forks man arrested in Walsh County after chase

WALSH COUNTY, ND – After fleeing multiple law enforcement officers, a 19-year-old Grand Forks man was arrested late Wednesday night in Walsh County.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy overheard radio traffic before 10 p.m. Wednesday of deputies from Ramsey County pursuing a vehicle, driven by David Herrera, Jr., eastbound on Highway 2 at a high rate of speed. Deputies positioned themselves along the highway in an attempt to locate the vehicle, which they did successfully eastbound. The deputies received a radar reading of 120 miles per hour in the 70 mile per hour zone.

The vehicle neared Larimore and turned northbound on Highway 2, where a sheriff’s department Corporal attempted a traffic stop, in which the suspect fled at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour.

The male was eventually located in Walsh County, where he abandoned the vehicle and was located in a tree.

Herrera, Jr., was taken into custody and faces multiple charges.
