Twins win series finale in Kansas City

The Minnesota Twins salvaged the final game of their weekend series with a 5-1 win over the Kansas City Royals.

Bailey Ober only gave up one run over 5 ⅓ innings with six strikeouts en route to the win. Cole Sands threw 1 ⅔ scoreless innings in relief. Kody Funderburk recorded two outs with Justin Topa pitching a shutout inning and Genesis Cabrera picking up the game’s final out.

Kody Clemens led the offense with a two-run homer. Byron Buxton also hit a home run, his 30th of the season. Matt Wallner chipped in an RBI.

The Twins are now off to California to battle the Angels. First pitch for Monday night’s series opener is scheduled for 8:38 p.m. Simeon Woods-Richardson is scheduled to be on the mound for Minnesota.
