New Years holiday impacts local government schedules

REGION – Just days after the Christmas holiday closed government offices across the region, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will again impact some local government offices.

Fargo

All Fargo city offices will remain open on New Year’s Eve.

The Fargo Public Library will close all of its branches at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Day, the city’s landfill, household hazardous waste facility, MATBUS administrative offices, City offices, Fargo Public Health and the Fargo Public Library will all be closed.

MATBUS will have no paratransit or fixed-route bus service on New Year’s Day.

Full police and fire protection will continue 24 hours a day during the holiday.

Moorhead

City offices will be closed for New Year’s Day on Thursday, January 1 and will reopen on Friday, January 2.

Thursday, January 1, garbage/recycling will be picked up on Friday, January 2. All other garbage/recycling pickup that week will be on normal days. The Thursday change may cause early or delayed collection on Friday; set your trash out by 4 a.m. to ensure it is collected.

West Fargo

In West Fargo, New Year’s Day garbage pick up will take place the following day.

All municipal government buildings will close. These locations include West Fargo City Hall, Public Library, Sanitation, Public Works and the Transfer Station.

Public safety agencies are in full operation, but the West Fargo Police and Fire Departments will close to the public on these days.
