LISTEN: Michele Tafoya’s conversation with Scott Hennen
MINNESOTA – Minnesota Senate candidate Michele Tafoya shared her position on abortion explaining her past with conception issues.
On “What’s On Your Mind?” on The Flag, the former TV sports reporter said she got married later in life and had a difficult time with multiple miscarriages.
“It was the worst time in my life and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone,” Tafoya explained.
Tafoya went onto say “miraculously” without any medical assistance, she was pregnant and gave birth to her son.
“My husband said to me ‘Now we get to adopt,’” Tafoya said.
She chose to adopt her daughter from Bogotá, Columbia based on her father’s Hispanic background.
“She is our gift and I couldn’t be more grateful to her mom for giving birth to her. She’s been one of the best things to happen to us. I am a pro-choice Republican. I believe women can make their own decisions,” Tafoya explained.
Tafoya brought up the Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case the United States Supreme Court decided in 2022 leaving abortion laws up to the states. That includes Minnesota which allows abortion.
“In the United States Senate, we’re not going to be dealing with this issue, so it’s kind of a moot point,” Tafoya said.
