PARK RAPIDS, MINN. (Valley News Live) – Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes has announced he won’t be seeking a fifth term.
Aukes began his journey as a 20-year-old deputy in 1990. He was elected Sheriff in 2010 and has served four terms.
“We made accountability a priority as the standards of the Sheriff’s Office were brought to the level that I felt they needed to be,” said Aukes. “And I do say ‘we’. Over the years, I was very fortunate to be able to have such dedicated and talented staff on my administration. Any success credited to my office is a direct result of the hard work and sacrifice of those around me.”
While he will no longer wear a badge, Aukes intends to continue his public service announcing he plans to run for Hubbard County Commissioner in District 3 later this year.
