FARGO, N.D. – Officials with the Fargo Police Department write on social media they’re aware of a false rumor that Isadora Wengel’s remains have been found in Otter Tail County, Minnesota.
“That information is NOT ACCURATE. We ask that you please rely on official updates from our department and share verified information only,” FPD said on Facebook.
Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski said the 25-year-old Isadora Wengel was killed in a “heinous murder” and he believes her body has been dismembered. She was last seen by her father in West Fargo on December 31, 2025 and was reported missing on January 7.

Wengel’s boyfriend, Joshua Hite, has been charged with murder, tampering with evidence and giving false information to police. His bond is set at $5 million cash only. Hite is scheduled to be back in court on March 11 for a preliminary hearing.
Zibolski said Hite ordered two 27 gallon totes that were sent to his apartment, but police only found one during a search of his Fargo apartment. Authorities are asking anyone in the Fargo-Moorhead area, Fergus Falls or Otter Tail County to call Red River Dispatch at 701-451-7660, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office at 218-998-8555, or their police department if they see the tote or know anything about this case.
