FARGO, N.D. – Cass County State’s Attorney Kim Hegvik announces she’s running for reelection.
She served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for 16 years before being elected top prosecutor in 2022.
Hegvik says her focus remains on a dual-track strategy: aggressive prosecution of violent offenders and expanded support for rehabilitation programs.
“While the community has seen a decrease in criminal activity recently, it is essential that we continue to prioritize prosecuting violent crimes, particularly those involving weapons and child victims,” Hegvik said. “We also need to continue to find ways to address the underlying causes of criminal behavior, including mental illness and substance use disorders, through alternatives to incarceration like treatment courts and prosecution led diversion programs.”
