One day after Moorhead Spud boys hockey hoisted the Minnesota boys hockey AA state championship trophy for the second consecutive season, deja vu seemed to make an appearance. Moorhead captain Tyden Bergeson was named Minnesota Mr. Hockey 2026, similar to Mason Kraft who also won the award with the Spuds in 2025 to day after the program secured its first boys hockey state championship.
Bergeson, began the fall of 2025 with the Madison Capitols of the USHL. In 16 games he totaled 16 points on 11 goals and five assists. Then in mid-November, he opted to return to Moorhead for his senior season with the Spuds.
He would serve as the Spuds’ captain for the 2025-26 season as they pursued a second consecutive state championship. In 31 games he scored 29 goals while adding 52 assists for 81 total points. He played his best hockey this season in the postseason, recording 17 points in six playoff games on seven goals and 10 assists.
On Saturday night he recorded an assist and posted a plus-two rating in Moorhead’s 5-4 2OT victory over top-seeded Minnetonka in the state championship game. Bergeson helped lead the Spuds to a 27-3-1 overall record and the programs second state championship.
He is now the third Spud to be named Minnesota Mr. Hockey, joining Mason Kraft (2025) and Brian Lee (2005).
