Citing staff illness, West Fargo Freedom Elementary closed Tuesday

WEST FARGO, N.D. – Illnesses within staff is forcing the closure of a West Fargo elementary school Tuesday.

In a communication to Freedom Elementary parents, guardians and staff, principal Kimmy Milligan said the school will be closed Tuesday as the administration ‘do not have sufficient staff available to provide a safe and appropriate learning environment’ for students.

Additionally, Milligan said a ‘high number of students’ are out ill.

“While student illness is not the reason for tomorrow’s closure, we want to remind families to keep children home when they are sick so we can help slow the spread of illness in our school community,” she said.

With regards to school operations on Wednesday, Milligan said the school will monitor staff availability and communicate with families by 3 p.m. Tuesday.
