Former N.D. legislator Lois Delmore dies

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A longtime former North Dakota legislator has died.

Lois Delmore died Wednesday at the Valley Senior Living Transitions Unit at the age of 76. No cause of death was included in an obituary released by Amundson Funeral Home.

A native of Maddock, N.D., Delmore worked in the education sector for 40 years after receiving her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She retired from teaching in 2012.

In addition to teaching, Delmore served 24 years in the North Dakota House, retiring in 2018.

“Lois Delmore was a dedicated public servant and champion for Grand Forks,” Rep. Zac Ista, House Minority Leader, said. “I aspired to live up to her example of working across the aisle to form genuine partnerships and friendships. May she rest in peace and her family take comfort in the lasting impact she made for North Dakota.”

House Majority Leader Rep. Mike Lefor served with Delmore for two sessions.

“I remember her as a serious minded, hard working legislator who cared deeply about her community and our state,” he said in a statement to Flag Family News. “She will be missed.”
