On Thursday, March 26 the Minnesota Twins opened the 2026 season in Baltimore against the Orioles. Minnesota fell 2-1 to Baltimore.
Joe Ryan has a solid outing, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in a no-decision. Kody Funderburk gave up one run over his 2/3 inning of relief, eventually being tagged with the loss. Justin Topa threw one inning, giving up a run. Taylor Rogers tossed a scoreless inning in his return to the Twins’ lineup.
Minnesota scored its lone run on a Luke Keaschall RBI sacrifice fly, scoring Byron Buxton from third base.
The Twins left seven runners on base. Minnesota went 1-12 with runners in scoring position while also grounding into three double plays.
Trevor Rogers threw seven scoreless innings for the Orioles earning the opening day win. Tyler Wells gave up one run over one inning, earning the hold. Ryan Helsley closed the door with a scoreless ninth inning for the save.
Minnesota fell to 0-1 on the season while Baltimore rose to 1-0.
The Twins and Orioles are off on Friday before resuming their series on Saturday afternoon. First pitch will be at 3:05 p.m. with game coverage available on Fox Sports 1 and Twins.TV. Taj Bradley is scheduled to be on the bump for Minnesota while Kyle Bradish counters for the Orioles.
