MARSHALL & GRANITE FALLS, Minn. – Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach won the GOP endorsement for Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District and Erik Osberg won the DFL endorsement.
Retired Air Force Major Dave Hughes ran against Fischbach and DFL State Representative Heather Keeler of Moorhead ran against Osberg.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! Republicans in #MN07 are united behind proven conservative leadership, defending our majority in the US House, and driving turnout to turn MN Red!” Fischbach wrote on social media.
Hughes won the GOP endorsement for the seat in 2016 and 2018 and lost to then Democratic Congressman Colin Peterson. Fischbach defeated Peterson in 2020.
Hughes and Fischbach said they signed a pledge saying the candidate that didn’t win the endorsement wouldn’t run in the primary.
“I’m incredibly humbled and grateful to the delegates, and honored to have earned their trust and their vote. Our campaign talks a lot about gratitude and I couldn’t have reached this point without the incredible team we’ve put together,” Osberg wrote in a press release.
Minnesota’s primary election is Tuesday, August 11.
