Twins swept out of Tampa Bay by Rays

The Minnesota Twins fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. The loss was the fifth straight for Minnesota and swept the Twins out of Tropicana Field.

Simeon Woods Richardson gave up four runs over 4 ⅓ innings, eventually being tagged with the loss and dropping to a record of 0-4 on the season. Anthony Banda picked up a pair of outs while Kody Funderburk tallied 1 ⅓ scoreless innings. Cole Sands tossed ⅔ of an inning. Justin Topa threw a scoreless eighth inning.

Brooks Lee hit a two-run homer, his fifth of the season. The Twins recorded five hits and four walks, stranding seven runners on base in the loss.

Minnesota fell to a record of 12-16 on the season. The Twins are now returning home to Target Field for a seven game home stand beginning with a three game series against the Seattle Mariners starting Monday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. and game coverage available on Twins.TVand Fox Sports 1. Connor Prielipp will be on the mound for Minnesota while Luis Castillo counters for Seattle.
