Wolves to try closing out Nuggets in Western Conference Quarterfinals without Edwards, DiVincenzo

The Minnesota Timberwolves are attempting to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the third consecutive season. To get one step closer to that goal, the Pack will need to finish off their series against the Denver Nuggets with two of their starters, including one of the NBA’s top players.

The Timberwolves lost Donte DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards due to injuries in Minnesota’s 112-96 Game 4 win over the Nuggets. DiVincenzo ruptured his right achilles tendon while attempting to grab an offensive rebound early in the first quarter. The rehabilitation process of recovering from a ruptured achilles tendon typically takes between six and 12 months. For Edwards, he suffered a hyperextended left knee and bone bruise while contesting a driving shot near the rim in the second quarter of Game 4. Edwards is expected to miss multiple weeks with the injury.

Following the pair of injuries Minnesota was led by Ayo Dosunmu’s career-high 43 game performance off the bench. Dosunmu is expected to be in the starting lineup for the Wolves moving forward in the playoff run. Minnesota will now rely heavily on players that include Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels, Rudy Gobert, Nah Reid, and Dosunmu among others in the absence of Edwards and DiVincenzo.

The Timberwolves currently lead their best-of-seven Western Conference Quarterfinals 3-1 entering Game 5 on Monday night in Denver. The tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. with full game coverage available on NBC and Peacock.
