On Monday, May 11 the Minnesota Vikings announced that former All-Pro running back, Adrian Peterson will be inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor during the 2026 season.

Peterson was drafted in the first round back in 2007, spending 10 seasons in the purple and gold. In his rookie season, Peterson broke the NFL’s single game rushing record with 296 yards on the ground. Additionally, he was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2012, becoming only the ninth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 yards rushing in a single season.
While playing for the Vikings from 2007-16, Peterson rushed for 11,747 yards, the most in franchise history. He also recorded a franchise record 90 rushing touchdowns. During his 123 games with the purple, he carried the ball 2,418 times, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. He caught 241 passes for 1,945 yards and five touchdowns.

In total Peterson played in 15 NFL seasons splitting his final five seasons between Washington, Detroit, Arizona, New Orleans, Tennessee, and Seattle. He played in 184 games tallying 3,230 carries for 14,918 yards with 120 touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.
Peterson will join the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor that includes franchise legends Randy Moss, Jared Allen, Cris Carter, John Randle, and many more.
