(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says parts of northwest Minnesota will be affected by Canadian wildfire smoke this week.

Heavy ground-level smoke is expected in the region beginning this afternoon. The air quality alert will take effect at 3 p.m. today and will last until 6 p.m. Sunday.

The area affected includes East Grand Forks and Moorhead and could be expanded if the smoke spreads to a wider area.
