Grand Forks Public Schools Changes Course on Masks

(Grand Forks, ND) -- By a vote of 8-1 in a special meeting, the Grand Forks School Board has voted to mandate masks in their district, effective August 23rd.

The mandate applies to all people over the age of two in all GFPS facilities.

School Board President Dr. Eric Lunn mentioned in the meeting that he believes COVID-19 is "here to stay" and steps need to be taken to keep it at bay.

Students will not be required to wear the masks outside, or at lunch.

Officials do say the issue can return to the school board if indicators and the virus improves in the area.
