Vehicle Pursuit in Grand Forks

 

On 08-08-2018 at approximately 0028, Officers from the Grand Forks Police Department observed a Black 1994 Chevrolet Blazer, which was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Gateway Ave with no headlights displayed. Officers attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle accelerated, fleeing from the officers. The vehicle continued eastbound on Gateway Dr. and could not negotiate a turn at N. 20 th St. The suspect vehicle went over the curb and then attempted to quickly back up, striking the pursuing squad car.

The driver of the vehicle and three passengers then exited the vehicle and fled on foot from officers. Officers were able to quickly apprehend two of the subjects, including the driver. The other two passengers were located after a search of the area by others officers. Two adult subjects and two juvenile subjects were apprehended.

The driver was charges with Driving under Suspension, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, and Refusal to Halt. The passengers were all charged with Refusal to Halt.
