Samson named North Dakota Assistant Principal of the Year

Dr. Wayne Samson, an assistant principal at West Fargo High School, has been named the North Dakota Assistant Principal of the Year by the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals (NDASSP).

Samson started at West Fargo Public Schools in 2009 as a paraprofessional at Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center. From 2009 – 2012, he was an economics teacher at West Fargo High School. He left the district for a brief period in 2012 to be the principal at Maple Valley High School in Tower City, North Dakota before returning in 2014 to take his current position as an assistant principal at West Fargo High School.

Samson holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Bethel University, a master’s degree in special education from Minnesota State University Moorhead, and a bachelor’s degree in social studies education from Concordia College.

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) annually honors a winner from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), and the U.S. Department of State Office of Overseas Schools. The NASSP National Assistant Principal of the Year program recognizes outstanding middle level and high school assistant principals who have demonstrated success in leadership, curriculum. and personalization. Now designated a state winner by NDASSP, Samson is in consideration to be the 2020 NASSP National Assistant Principal of the Year.
