The Fargo Fire Department has determined the cause of the fire that occurred on January 23, 2020 at 3534 University Drive South (Elim nursing home).
Fargo Fire has determined that the fire started above a childcare classroom within the roof joist void space. The cause of the fire has been determined to be an overheated electrical component. The concealed space where the fire originated was of combustible construction and did not contain fire sprinklers or noncombustible insulation. The building has several types of roof construction and other attic areas did contain fire sprinklers.
