U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $4.3 million in federal funding to the University of North Dakota (UND) for cancer research.
“Ground breaking medical research can only happen when we make investments in top universities like UND,” said Heitkamp. “As a breast cancer survivor myself, I know that to beat any disease we need to advance medical sciences through dedicated research and development coupled with compassionate health care professionals who have access to the latest information. These federal funds will help UND further its medical sciences.”
Specifically, these federal dollars will be used to help support the efforts of a medical research project titled the Dakota Cancer Collaborative on Translational Activity at UND.
These federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Institute of General Medical Sciences’ Specialized Center grants program.
