Heitkamp Statement on Advancement of Dallas Carlson’s Nomination to Serve as U.S. Marshal

U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today issued the following statement after North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Director Dallas Carlson’s nomination to serve as U.S. Marshal for the District of North Dakota passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Carlson’s nomination now moves to the full Senate for a vote.

“Dallas Carlson is a trusted public servant who has made it his life’s mission to keep North Dakota families and communities strong and safe,” Heitkamp said. “I worked with Dallas during my time as Attorney General for North Dakota, when he was first starting out on the front lines of fighting crime at BCI. He has the integrity, ethics, and tenacity that are needed to enforce the law and hold criminals accountable, which is why I strongly advocated for his nomination to the U.S. Marshal post earlier this year. From human trafficking to illicit drugs, there are a wide range of law enforcement issues facing North Dakota right now, and Dallas has the skills and experience to get results to help fix them.”
