Cass County Sheriff's Office makes arrest following reported burglary

 

On July 8, 2020 at approximately 11:30 am, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to a call for service involving a burglary to a detached residential garage in the area of County Road 17 and 81st Avenue South in Horace. Upon arriving in the area, deputies discovered foot prints that lead to commercial storage units near this location.  While at the storage units, deputies located a possible suspect who fled on foot.  Deputies set-up a perimeter and were assisted by the CCSO Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Team and a West Fargo Police Department K9 Unit.  After a brief track by the West Fargo K9 Unit and UAS Team, the suspect was located underneath a bush and apprehended by the K9.  The suspect was identified as 41 year old Nicholas Stephan Mackner.  Mackner was treated on-scene by FM Ambulance and taken to Essentia Hospital, where Mackner was medically cleared and booked into the Cass County Jail.  This investigation is ongoing.
