In-person homecoming events at UND, NDSU canceled due to Coronavirus

Both the University of North Dakota, in Grand Forks, and Norrth Dakota State University, in Fargo, have canceled their in-person homecoming events for the 2020 school year, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to the UND Alumni Association, in addition to the UND Homecoming parade and on-campus student events, all events hosted by the Alumni Association & Foundation are canceled, including the 2020 Sioux Awards Banquet and the UND Letterwinners Association Hall of Fame Banquet. This year's recipients will be recognized next year. Homecoming 2021 is scheduled for October 18-23. The association says the decision was made in collaboration with UND President Andrew Armacost, the UND Alumni Association & Foundation Board Executive Committee and UND Athletics.

NDSU's Foundation has also announced the delay of their in-person events for the annual homecoming weekend. The foundation says its Bison Bidders Bowl will go virtual this year. It is the primary fundraiser for the association.

In addition, the dedication of the Aldevron Tower will be held virtually.

Another event, called the Evening of Distinction, will be not be held this year. The event honors alumni and benefactors of the University.
