Washington Students to Participate in First Annual Walk-a-Thon

The Washington Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.) is sponsoring the school’s first annual walk-a-thon, a healthy initiative fundraiser, on Friday, October 5. Students are collecting pledges from family and friends with a goal to raise $10,000 to support STEM night, books, and various culture building activities.

The 360 kindergarten through fifth grade students will walk, run, or jog the course around the school during their physical education class. Fargo Police car sirens will sound to mark the beginning of the pep rally, while Hawkeye from the RedHawks and Bobble Head from the Fargo Force cheer on the students. All students will gather outside of the school for a pump-up speech from Washington Elementary Principal Cathy Selberg, and hear the National Anthem being sung by 60 fourth and fifth grade Washington students. BOB 95 FM will DJ the event. Hawkeye will run with the fifth graders for the first lap while the rest of the school, and parents, dance and cheer.
