Hoeven Issues Statement on Kavanaugh Confirmation

After a historic 50-48 vote to send Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court, North Dakota Senator John Hoeven issued a statement.

In his statement, Hoeven says he voted to confirm Kavanaugh because he “is well-qualified to serve on the United States Supreme Court.”

Hoeven joined heavy-hitters Jeff Flake (Arizona), Lindsey Graham (South Carolina), Orrin Hatch (Utah) and others in voting to confirm Kavanaugh.

Among those voting no—Dianne Feinstein (California), Heidi Heitkamp (North Dakota), Amy Klobuchar (Minnesota), Chuck Schumer (New York) and Tina Smith (Minnesota).

Chief Justice John Roberts, Jr., administered Kavanaugh’s Constitutional Oath, and retired Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy administered the Judicial Oath.

A formal investiture ceremony will take place at a special sitting of the Court in the Courtroom at a later date.

Kavanaugh’s term begins immediately.
