Individual Dies in Train-Pickup Crash

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 49-year-old Sheyenne man has died following a train-pickup crash Tuesday night in rural Eddy County.

According to Sergeant Ryan Panasuk of the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west of New Rockford, when it approached railroad tracks at 61st Avenue Northeast.

The Chevrolet was struck on the driver’s side by an eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train on the grade crossing, where the tracks and road intersect.

The driver, whose name is being withheld to allow for notification of family, died at the scene. No personnel from the train were injured.

New Rockford Ambulance responded to the accident, which remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
