Possible Shots Fired in North Fargo

The Fargo Police Department is investigating an incident in North Fargo this morning.

At 11:34 a.m., a Fargo Police officer was investigating a possible stolen bike on 14th Street North.

As the officer approached someone who possibly had the bike, the person ran, and the officer gave chase, according to Deputy Police Chief Joe Anderson.

The suspect allegedly brandished a firearm, causing the officer to discharge their firearm. The suspect subsequently dropped the firearm and continued running.

A second officer found the suspect at Main Avenue and North University, Anderson says. The second officer deployed his taser, sending the suspect to the ground.

The suspect was taken to a local emergency room, which is protocol, according to Anderson.

Anderson says the officer was not injured.

Police are not identifying the suspect or the officer involved, and have turned the officer-involved shooting portion of the case over to the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Jessica Schindeldecker, Public Information Officer for the Fargo Police Department, tells WZFG News that the Fargo Police Department continues to investigate the criminal portion of the case.
