For the Holidays, American Red Cross Urges Everyone to ‘Give Something that Means Something’

In a year when disasters have significantly impacted the lives of thousands of people across the country, the American Red Cross is asking everyone to support its 2018 Holiday Campaign and Give Something that Means Something to bring comfort, hope and relief to those who need it most.

Every 8 minutes, someone affected by disaster is helped by donations to the Red Cross. The need is constant—and this year was no different. Right now, we’re responding to Hurricane Michael, while continuing to help people recover from Hurricane Florence. In 2018, we’ve also mounted large responses for major disasters like the wildfires in California and volcano in Hawaii—all while responding day and night to home fires, which are the nation’s most frequent disaster and account for the vast majority of our responses.

Beginning on Giving Tuesday—Tuesday, November 27—everyone can #GiveWithMeaning at redcross.org/gift to help the Red Cross support people in need.
