Metro Area Street Crimes Unit Make Arrest on Interstate

 

Fargo Police News Release: 

On January 3, 2019 at 1:45 p.m. a Fargo Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 94 east of 45 St. S. Members of the Metro Area Street Crimes Unit and the High Plains Fugitive Taskforce assisted on the traffic stop to help identify a suspected wanted individual inside the vehicle. A male seated in the backseat of the vehicle provided a false name to law enforcement, but was eventually identified as Austin Lee Whitelightning, 24 years old with no permanent address. Whitelightning was asked to exit the vehicle as he had an open warrant through the North Dakota Department of Corrections. Upon his exit, Whitelightning attempted to flee into traffic, and resist officers. Whitelightning was arrested for his outstanding warrant, refusing to halt, possession of meth, possession of meth paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, preventing arrest, and false information to law enforcement.
