Former Grand Forks County States Attorney Peter Welte has been nominated by President Donald Trump to the US District Court Judgeship vacated by Judge Ralph Erickson.
Erickson was nominated and confirmed to serve on the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals last year.
Welte served as Grand Forks County States Attorney from 2002 to 2015.
He graduated from NDSU with an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics in 1989, and graduated with distinction from UND’s School of Law in 1997.
