The Grand Forks Police Department has announced the results of its increased traffic enforcement efforts, which took place from May 20 through June 2.

Six different officers worked 15 extra five hour shifts during the two-week campaign.

Of the 224 citations issued, 180 of them were issued for exceeding the posted speed limit; 31 citations were issued for seatbelt violations; 11 for miscellaneous non-criminal traffic offenses; and two for driving with a suspended license.

The Grand Forks enforcement was part of the nationwide Click It Or Ticket enforcement campaign, which is done in partnership with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and law enforcement agencies across the United States.
