Call for Volunteers in Watford City

The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office has put a call out for cleanup volunteers at the Prairie View RV Park in Watford City, located at 304 16th Avenue SW. A post on the sheriff’s department’s Facebook page is requesting as many volunteers as possible to assist as the McKenzie County dump will be opened until 10 p.m. tonight. The sheriff’s office says it is important as much is cleaned up today as possible, as utility personnel and the RV park owner need to perform other vital tasks. An EF-2 tornado ripped through Watford City on Tuesday morning, injuring 28, with at least three of them critically, and taking the life of a seven-day-old male. Reports from the National Weather Service’s Bismarck office say peak winds were estimated at 127 miles per hour at around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. The tornado was embedded in a line of damaging thunderstorm winds of around 75 mph. Many manufactured single wide homes and RV trailers were completely destroyed, the weather service said.
