Grand Forks Bear Euthanized

The Grand Forks Police Department issued an update this morning in regards to the bear call it responded to yesterday in the Grand Forks community. On Monday, officials from the Red River Zoo in Fargo assisted the Grand Forks Police Department in successfully tranquilizing the bear, according to a Grand Forks P-D report. The department lowered the bear to the ground, and subsequently transported it out of town. The department assessed the condition of the bear and consulted with area veterinary resources, eventually determining the bear could not survive the encounter. The department says it “humanely euthanized the bear.”
