Areas & items of interest found during search for Jemini Posey

SPIRIT LAKE NATION – The Spirit Lake Tribe said items and areas of interest were identified and reported to police during a search for Jemini Posey last weekend who was last seen in Fort Totten on Jan. 5, 2024.

No confirmation has been made regarding the findings.

Fifty-six volunteers searched the Woodlake District in Tokio and areas near Fort Totten. The tribe also got help from the Minnesota Office of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives

Special recognition was also given to Jemini’s sister, Jade, whose continued advocacy and efforts helped bring together resources, volunteers, and partner organizations in support of the search effort.

“Our hearts remain with Jemini’s family, her loved ones, and especially her child,” Spirit Lake Chairwoman Lonna J. Street said. “Even in difficult moments, these efforts are about ensuring our families know they are not alone and that we will continue utilizing every available resource to help bring answers and closure. These are not just cases to us — these are our relatives, our community members, and our people.”

“I just want to thank everyone who took the time to come out, pray with us, search with us, and continue standing beside our family,” Jade Posey said. “No matter how difficult this journey has been, we are not giving up on bringing my sister home. Every person who showed up this weekend reminded us that Jemini is loved, remembered, and that our community continues to stand with us in this search for answers.”

D’Angelo Hunt faces federal voluntary manslaughter charges in the death of a person identified in court documents as J.M.P. Hunt had previously been connected to Jemini Posey before she went missing. He’s also charged with second degree murder in the death of his brother, Isaac.
