(BISMARCK, ND) – North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong still feels confident a compromise will be reached when it comes to the property tax debate currently in conference committee.
“I think we’ll get there,” he said. “I bet we end up very close to something we proposed.”
The proposal Armstrong is talking about was laid out in his State of the State address. It includes a relief amount of $1,500 with no skin in the game amendment.
“The good news is they have two different property taxes right now,” he said. “The bad news is that I’m not entirely sure that they’re getting there.”
Armstrong says there’s a noted sense of frustration as the process continues to move forward.
He also said that he hasn’t fully decided on whether or not he’d call legislators in for a special session, which is allowable by law. The legislature is nearing the end of their constitutionally regulated 80-day session.
He made the comments on The Jay Thomas Show.
