BISMARCK, N.D. – The Burleigh County Commission will appeal last month’s decision by the North Dakota Public Service Commission to approve the Summit Carbon Solutions permit.
Local officials say the move comes amid criticism of the project that would collect tons of carbon dioxide emissions from ethanol plants in five states and store the greenhouse gases underground near Bismarck.
Proponents of the plan say it’s a “geologic jackpot” for projected sustainable aviation fuel markets. Critics say it’s nothing but a gift to Big Ag and the ethanol industry.
