Chase ends after woman fails to stop at U.S.-Canada Port of Entry

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol was involved a chase that resulted from an Ontario woman failed to stop at the Pembina Port of Entry on I-29 in Pembina County and ended in Cass County.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the U.S. Border Patrol requested the Highway Patrol’s assistance as the woman continued southbound on I-29.

Troopers deployed tire deflation devices near Grand Forks, resulting in damage to the suspect vehicle’s tires. During the incident, the suspect vehicle crossed the median and briefly traveled northbound in the southbound lanes of I-29, creating a significant safety risk for the motoring public.

Troopers conducted a controlled intervention to stop the vehicle, bringing it to a safe conclusion. The pursuit ended on the north side of Cass County on I-29.

The suspect was taken into custody by NDHP without further incident and is being charged under North Dakota state law for fleeing and reckless endangerment.
