FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo Convention Center committee is still working through its latest round of proposals regarding who and where the new convention center is built.
Charley Johnson, who’s leading the committee, said a decision could come as soon as late April — but for now, consultants are working with both Visit Fargo-Moorhead and the City of Fargo. The consultants have been alongside the groups from the start.
“They’re also going to help on this last step,” he said. “They’re going to help us review these final four proposals.”
The four sites left for consideration are Brewhalla, Scheels Arena, Fargodome and the Civic Center.
While acknowledging its taken its time to get to this point, Johnson said a lot has factored into the timing of the project.
“It took about 10 years of working on it to finally get to the point to where we were able to coalesce around it,” he said. “There just has never been a political will for it until now.”
The Convention Center committee leader hopes to have the name to the commission within the next several weeks.
