FARGO, N.D. – Discovery Middle School Spanish Teacher Jim Urlacher has been named Fargo Public Schools’ 2026 Teacher of the Year.
He has spent his entire career with the district beginning at Agassiz Middle School in 2005 and moving to Discovery the next year.
Those who nominated Urlacher for the honor say he embodies Fargo Public Schools’ mission of educating and empowering all students to succeed by maintaining high standards for every student regardless of their background or ability.
Each year Mr. Urlacher invites parents and those in the community to cook cultural dishes with their students.
Fargo Public Schools said he is a teacher that new teachers are sent to observe and veteran teachers get ideas from.
Urlacher will be considered for Cass County Teacher of the Year.
