DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – F5 Project has opened a new office at the Becker County Probation Office in Detroit Lakes.

The nonprofit gives people coming out of jail or prison resources like transitional housing and help with getting a job.

“People get out of jail and prison and have to report to their [probation officer] and as soon as they’re done meeting with their p.o., they walk them right over to our office and we get them services,” F5 Project Founder Adam Martin said on The Flag.

The money to run the Detroit Lakes office comes from opioid settlement funding in a grant from Becker County and the Minnesota Department of Corrections.

Martin said half of his organization’s funding was cut in half last year and he had to lay off hall his staff. He added F5 Project is back to its original funding and staffing levels.

The nonprofit also has offices in Fargo, Grand Forks, Valley City, Jamestown, Bismarck, Dickinson, Minot, Devils Lake and Williston.
