FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Fargo man is facing felony stalking charges after police say he put a tracking device inside a woman’s car.
According to court documents, the victim in this case contacted police on June 2, saying that Matthew Nystrom had driven by her address, violating a protection order in the process. She says those incidents took place on May 27 and May 28. She says on June 2 she was driving home from work she received a notification on her phone that a tracking device was following her.
She searched her car when she got home, and found the “N-Tag” device hidden under the seat cover of the front driver’s seat.
When police talked to Nystrom on June 5, he admitted that he placed the tracker in the car so he didn’t “run into her.” He said that the vehicle had been left unlocked. He also admitted to driving over to the victim’s apartment on May 27 and 28, according to court documents.
There is a confirmed order of protection between Nystrom and the victim, saying that he cannot come within 300 yards of her home, workplace, or the petitioner’s daycare.
Nystrom has been charged with stalking and violation of a domestic violence protection order.
