Fargo Police issue update on Sunday stabbing

(FARGO) — The Fargo Police Department has issued an update with new information regarding the Sunday afternoon stabbing following the F-M Pride Parade.

According to Criminal Investigations Division Captain Bill Ahlfeldt, the ongoing investigation found that the suspect and the victims were not known to each other contrary to the initial report received from the shift commander at the time of the incident.

A third victim involved in this incident reported a knife being thrown in her direction and striking her. This victim did not report any injuries at the time of the incident; however, on Monday, August 12, she contacted the police department and reported a minor injury from the knife striking her. This victim had volunteered her time to work at the Pride Parade, but the incident occurred after the conclusion of the parade.

The Fargo Police Department does not have any reason to believe her participation in the parade was a motive for the attack.

In addition to the Attempted Murder charges, Michael Hurteau was also arrested for Terrorizing with a Dangerous Weapon (Felony).

Fargo Police continue to investigate this incident; no additional information is releasable at this time
