FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A routine traffic stop on Dec. 8 led to three arrests and the recovery of stolen credit cards and a key fob linked to a stolen vehicle, according to Fargo police.

Officer Tyler Hawes stopped a vehicle around 2 a.m. in the 3100 block of Fiechtner Drive after it matched the description of one involved in a vehicle break-in earlier that night.

The driver was identified as Jeffrey Johnson, who had a suspended license, according to police.

Officers used a K-9 to perform a narcotics search of the vehicle.

The dog alerted to narcotics, and officers found fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, multiple stolen credit cards and a Hyundai key fob linked to a recently stolen vehicle.

One passenger, Jackson Mulder, had been identified as a person of interest in several package thefts in north Fargo. He was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of a credit device, unauthorized use of personal identifying information and theft of a motor vehicle.

Additional charges are pending review by the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Johnson was arrested on suspicion of fentanyl possession and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

A second passenger, James Caswell, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and on a Cass County warrant for failure to pay fines.

Police later found the stolen vehicle linked to the key fob nearby.

Police have notified the victims about the recovered credit cards.
