FARGO, ND – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has confirmed to Flag Family News an investigation is underway after a banner was displayed on the pedestrian bridge overlooking I-94 in Fargo possibly calling for the death of President Trump.
The federal government is also now involved in the probe after two people were identified as suspects.
Lieutenant Jenna Clawson Huibregtse told Flag Family that two people allegedly displayed the message on Wednesday morning with the number “8647” from the bridge.
Similar sightings were reported last weekend, but no one was identified because the culprits left before law enforcement arrived.
’86’ is a slang term tied to getting rid of someone or something, while ’47’ is the number associated with President Trump’s current term.
He’s the 47th President of the United States of America.
Some believe the combination of the numbers suggests calling for violence against Trump.
The Trump administration recently called for an investigation into former FBI Director James Comey for the same reason.
Comey posted a now-deleted image to his Instagram account of a formation of seashells on the beach arranged to write out the four numbers.
Law enforcement says the identities of the individuals allegedly involved with the I-94 banner will not be released, and the investigation has been turned over to the United States Secret Service.
A threat against a U.S. president is a federal offense that can carry a prison term of up to 5 years if convicted, along with a fine as high as $250,000.
