LISTEN: Fowzia Adde’s conversation with Scott Hennen
FARGO, N.D. – Executive Director and founder of the Immigrant Development Center Fowzia Adde said she reached out to police about a threatening letter sent to her claiming she’s “responsible to organize the known illegal aliens to deport themselves” that also said “Your actions are being watched.”
The letter, which Adde said was sent without a return address, claims she’s a diversity, equity and inclusion hire and has “illegal alien friends.”
“I’m a very creative woman entrepreneur. I started working towards the Immigrant Development Center in 2003. I’m not a DEI hire,” Adde said on “What’s On Your Mind?” on The Flag.
The organization helps connect immigrants and refugees with jobs and learn English.
Adde said she was born in Somalia and became a United States citizen and when she came to this country in 1997, she was “vetted very well” and doesn’t know anyone who came to the country illegally.
“If you look at the history of Fargo-Moorhead, we have legal refugees who are settled around here. We barely have illegal immigrants around this area and if they are, they’re in hiding,” Adde explained.
Adde said she would meet with the man who sent the letter for coffee if she had his contact information and send him financial reports and audits to prove her organization is legitimate.
“It doesn’t scare me. I believe in America. It’s a land of opportunity. The land of security. The land of laws and regulation. I am in a good hand. That’s why I reached out to the police chief right away,” Adde said.
Moorhead Police said they’re investigating the letter.
