MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan is pushing back on criticism that Minnesota’s Free School Meals Program costs too much money.
Flanagan and other elected leaders served breakfast at Oak View Elementary School in Maple Grove on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the program.
It cost more than $260 million dollars in its first year, but Flanagan said results are what matters. She says the free meals are improving school attendance and saving Minnesota families about $1,000 per child per school year.
