GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – The wife of embattled former Republican State Senator Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids is filing for divorce.
Police say Eichorn was arrested last week for trying to solicit sex from a 17-year-old girl, who turned out to be an undercover police officer.
Eichorn resigned from the Senate after his arrest following pressure from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.
Governor Tim Walz has now set a special election date to fill the vacated seat on April 29th.
DFLers now have a two-seat majority over Republicans in the upper chamber.
