Hogan announces retirement after current term

FARGO, N.D. – A longtime North Dakota Democratic legislator says she’s retiring at the end of her current term.

Kathy Hogan has served in the state legislature in 2009, when she was appointed to represent Fargo’s District 21. She was elected to the State Senate in 2018 and has served as the Senate’s Minority Leader since 2023.

“When I first became involved in District 21 in the winter of 1972, I could not have imagined the rich legacy this party would offer to me and our family. Despite many boundary changes, District 21 is still the heart of Fargo and West Fargo,” said Hogan, “It is a rich kaleidoscope of neighborhoods, schools, churches, businesses, and parks. It is the home to some of the most vulnerable citizens in our state whom we have nurtured and supported for decades. It is a diverse group of good people living and working together by living and learning continuously.”

Her term will end on November 30 of this year.
