DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — An inmate has died while in custody in the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center in Devils Lake.
Director Starr Klemetsrud said the inmate was found unresponsive just before 7 p.m. Wednesday. Staff began emergency response procedures and administered medical assistance.
The inmate, who has not been identified, was later pronounced dead.
Klemetsrud says the incident is under investigation by authorities.
The inmate’s name is being withheld while next of kin is being notified.
